Work and Travels Jobs Program
Working abroad should be a fun, rewarding experience. But finding a job in a new country can be difficult. By doing the Work and Travel program you don’t need to worry. We’ll give you everything you need to find work in New Zealand.
- Pre arrival letter: The Work and Travel team will email you a welcome email 18 days prior to arrival date in New Zealand which includes lots of useful information including – How to get to the hostel / pre-check in information / Log in details for the Jobs program and more
- Before You Start: We’ll sort all the important things you’ll need before you start working in New Zealand. We’ll help you open a NZ Bank Account , along with your NZ SIM card and IRD number.
- Training Courses: Certain jobs such as bar work and construction require you to complete specific training. We’ll explain what’s needed and can book you onto all necessary training courses after your activity week.
- Work and Travel Members: You’ll get exclusive access to our Work and Travel Jobs portal, which includes access to a fully integrated labour hire job agency placing thousands of jobs exclusively available to WTC members only every year. You will also have access to the work and travel members portal which includes lots of useful information including an extensive WTC handbook we recommend reading before you travel
- Unlimited Help & Advice: Your WTC consultant will give you a comprehensive ‘Work in NZ’ presentation, as well as one on one advice and support on CV Building, Job Finding, Interview Skills and anything else you’ll need to secure a great job in New Zealand.
- New Zealand Support: We have support staff in Auckland and Queenstown, ready and waiting to help with whatever you may need.
MEET ME AUCKLAND ITINERARY
Day 1 – Arrival into Auckland
Kia Ora and welcome to New Zealand! Today is the recommended arrival date. Once you land in Auckland, access the shuttle service to take you to your home for the next week. Check in and rest up or explore the city area. Your activity week with the group starts tomorrow!
Day 2 – Meet Me Welcome, City Walk and Welcome Dinner
Kick off your day with a City Walking Tour and get to know Auckland on foot, starting at the buzzing Viaduct Harbour – packed with waterfront views, cool cafes, and plenty of spots to grab a cheap bite or coffee. From there, head into the SkyCity Auckland precinct to check out the iconic Sky Tower, with the option to head up for epic panoramic views or even take on the SkyWalk or SkyJump if you’re feeling adventurous (own cost).
Wind things down with a stroll through the leafy Albert Park, perfect for a chill break or meeting fellow travellers before, wrapping up the day with a rooftop hangout over dinner, soaking in a stunning sunset over the city.
Day 3 – Welcome Orientation and Pub Crawl
Launch your New Zealand adventure with a hands-on orientation – we’ll help you set up bank accounts, SIM cards, and give job support so you’re ready to hit the ground running. From 8:00pm join the guided night out visiting four of the city’s best bars and clubs. Enjoy 4 free drinks, party games, DJs and drink specials as you explore the nightlife with a great group of travellers. A fun and social night, perfect for meeting new people and experiencing the city’s party scene.
Day 4 to 7– Tutukaka Coast/Whangarei Coast Surf
Over 3 nights and 4 unforgettable days, dive into the very best of New Zealand’s Far North – where rugged coastlines, golden beaches, and laid-back Kiwi vibes set the scene for an epic adventure.
Your journey kicks off with a scenic Intercity bus ride from Auckland to Whangarei, where you’ll meet your local guides and head north to explore this remote paradise. With access to multiple beaches across two coastlines, you’ll always be surfing the best conditions, whether you’re a complete beginner or building confidence, with sessions tailored to the swell, tides and weather.
Beyond the waves, experience everything from beachside yoga and coastal road trips to chasing sunsets and relaxing by the ocean with your group. Midway through the trip, swap your surfboard for an unforgettable day exploring the top of New Zealand – standing at Cape Reinga where two oceans collide, swimming at secluded beaches, and sandboarding down the towering Te Paki dunes.
On your final day, squeeze in one last sunrise surf before heading back to Auckland for your final night, where you’ll unwind with your new mates, sharing stories, laughs and memories from an incredible Far North escape.
Day 8 – Farewell
Join us for coffee, pastries and good vibes at our office, where the WTC team will catch you up on any onward travel info, give extra support, and celebrate an unforgettable week of adventures, sun and new friends!
Terms and conditions
Cancellations: The Customer may cancel the Booking without charge if notice is given to the accommodation at least 48 hours prior to 1500 hours (local time) on the Arrival Date. Where the Customer fails to give sufficient notice of cancellation or fails to arrive (no show) at the accommodation, the entire Booking will be deemed cancelled and the pre-charged or total amount due will apply for the customers booking.
