Tree work – Morlake

Tree work involves a range of tasks, see below for an example of what you could expect when working with trees:

1. Tree Pruning and Trimming:

  • Pruning: Removing dead, diseased, or overgrown branches to maintain the health of the tree, improve its structure, or allow for better airflow and light penetration.
  • Crown Reduction: Reducing the size of the tree canopy to prevent damage to surrounding structures or to reduce weight on weak limbs.
  • Shaping: Shaping the tree to maintain its aesthetic appearance or to encourage healthy growth.
  • Thinning: Removing specific branches to improve airflow through the canopy and reduce the risk of disease or pest infestation.

2. Tree Removal:

  • Cutting Down Trees: Safely felling trees that are dead, diseased, or pose a danger to nearby structures or people.
  • Dismantling Trees: For trees located in difficult or hazardous areas, tree workers may need to dismantle the tree piece by piece, lowering branches and sections using ropes and cranes to avoid damage to surrounding property.
  • Stump Grinding or Removal: After a tree is cut down, the stump may be ground down or removed to prevent it from sprouting new growth and to improve the aesthetic of the area.

3. Tree Planting:

  • Selecting Trees: Choosing the right species of tree for a given location, taking into account factors like climate, soil, and space.
  • Planting Trees: Digging holes, positioning the tree, and planting it with the proper care to ensure it has a good start in its new environment.
  • Mulching and Watering: Applying mulch around the base of the tree to retain moisture and protect the root system, and ensuring that the tree is watered appropriately, especially during dry periods.

4. Tree Health and Care:

  • Monitoring Tree Health: Observing trees for signs of disease, pests, or stress, such as discolored leaves, bark damage, or unusual growth patterns.
  • Treating Diseases or Pests: Applying pesticides, fungicides, or other treatments to manage tree diseases or pest infestations.
  • Soil and Root Care: Ensuring the soil around the tree is healthy, which may involve aerating the soil, adding compost or nutrients, and addressing root issues like root rot.

5. Emergency Tree Work:

  • Storm Damage Cleanup: Removing fallen branches, debris, or damaged trees caused by storms, heavy winds, or other extreme weather conditions.
  • Hazardous Tree Removal: Identifying and removing trees that pose an immediate risk to people, structures, or power lines due to leaning, damage, or other hazardous conditions.
