We are on the hunt for an experienced Stable Hand to be based at our Carbine Lodge operation located at Flemington Racecourse, in Melbourne.
As a full-time stable hand, you will be an integral part of our team. This role is responsible for the general day to day care of our quality racehorses. You will prepare and accompany horses to daily trackwork and present horses on race day.
We are seeking a passionate, reliable, and hard-working person whose love and admiration for horses is as great as ours. You must be flexible, have a positive attitude, good work ethic and be willing to go above and beyond in your role, stable hand experience is essential.
Tasks include:
- Delivery of daily care, health and nutrition regimes for our thoroughbred racehorses, in accordance with horse training plans and workplace procedures
- General care including feeding, grooming and treatment of horses
- Assisting with general stable operations such as trot up’s, farrier and vet
- General upkeep and cleaning activities
- Safe handling of racehorses at stables, track work and public environments as the need arises, minimising risk to self, horses and others around racehorses
- Timely and accurate communication and recording of information about horse health, stable activities and events, following workplace procedures as required
- General stable operations duties including stable cleaning, feed bins, gear and equipment

Criteria
- Sound horse handling skills, with experience and confidence handling thoroughbreds
- Understanding of horse health care and welfare requirements
- In-depth understanding of the thoroughbred racing industry
