We have flexible work schedules and welcome applicants near Te Puke, Tauranga, Whakatane and Rotorua. Preference will be given to those willing to travel between regions (mileage reimbursed).

Day to day, you’ll be tasked with travelling to farms and will collect soil samples from various locations. These will be sent off to the lab, and a report will be generated for the farmers to assess soil health. It is helpful if you are a confident driver.

• Soil collections occur between May and November, this is a casual position working as and when required as driven by client demands for the soil sampling service
• There is flexibility to work between one and five days per week; work will fluctuate each week; however, it could be between 10-30 hours per week depending on client needs
• A typical day of soil core collecting involves travelling to a farm and conducting the soil testing programme
• You will require a level of fitness for this position as you will be walking approx. 5 kms per day across dairy or dry stock farms
• You will also be climbing gates to access paddocks, bending repetitively as you use a probe to extract a soil sample and carrying a backpack with approx. 5kgs of soil core collections.

What you’ll bring to the team:

• No prior experience needed! If you are committed to working and are comfortable walking around a farm, we will provide you with all the necessary training
• Good physical fitness – this role is an active role where you will be on your feet walking and bending throughout the day
• A full, current, and clean NZ driver’s licence
• Experience driving a 4WD ute on farms/country roads is required and you will require your own 4WD – mileage will be reimbursed
• Ability to follow instructions and comply with Health and Safety requirements
• A current First Aid Certificate is preferred however, we can supply this training if you meet all other criteria.
