Snow Groomer – Mount Buller

Mt Buller has more than 300 hectares of spectacular skiable terrain including more than 80kms of groomed trails. Our ski runs are groomed and maintained by a dedicated and experienced crew who pride themselves on delivering the best possible skiing and boarding conditions to our guests.

Buller Ski Lifts (BSL) operates a large fleet of snow grooming machines, and this winter, we are looking for Groomer operators like you who understand the importance of delivering a high-quality product to guests in an efficient and safe manner. You will need to be hardworking, self-motivated, and prepared to work night shifts. Availability from mid-June to late September is required. As a member of the Grooming Team, you will be responsible for producing and maintaining a top-quality snow product to ensure our guests have the best possible mountain experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • You will be responsible for maintaining an grooming snow runs throughout the resort
  • Operate machinery safely and efficiently, ensuring compliance with all company policies and procedures
  • Rebuild runs each night to maintain quality
  • work on special events and projects, such as mogul and race courses, jumps, and repair projects
  • Collaborate closely with the snowmaking team to push out snow whales and doze snow, ensuring even depth across runs
  • Manage the shaping, placement, contouring, and flattening of the snow surface under various weather and snow conditions
  • Adjust and change equipment attachments as necessary to match snow conditions and circumstances
  • Understand and learn how to use SnowSat systems to enhance the grooming process

We’re looking for people with:

  • Previous winter resort /outdoor work experience
  • Previous heavy equipment or machinery operator experience
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Previous skiing/snowboarding experience (not essential)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work outdoors in different weather extremes whilst still maintaining a friendly and positive disposition
  • Willingness to perform shift work
  • Understanding of effective snow management techniques
  • Safety awareness
  • Operators must be at least 18 years of age and hold a valid current driver’s license
  • Prior snow grooming experience optimal

  • Snowsat snow depth system
  • SMI and Techno Alpine Snowmaking systems
  • SF220 & SF100 Snow Factories

  • Starting payrate casual: $37.79 up to $44.45, pending previous experience (Rate subject to increase inline with FWC 1st July 2025)
