Job Title: Receptionist – Hostel
Hours: Part-time (27 hours per week), Saturday to Monday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm
Position open: May 2024
 Position Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and organised Receptionist to join our team. The Receptionist plays a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our hostel while our manager is away. From reception duties to housekeeping tasks, the Receptionist will contribute to maintaining the high standards of hospitality and cleanliness that our guests expect.
We are looking for someone who is looking for a long-term job, a minimum of a 6 month commitment.
 Responsibilities:
•Greet and check-in/out guests.
•Respond promptly to guest inquiries and ensure their needs are met during their stay
•Assist in managing reservations and coordinating room assignments efficiently
Oversee daily housekeeping duties, ensuring that rooms and common areas reflect cleanliness and comfort
•Perform laundry tasks as needed to maintain the availability of fresh linen and towels
•Collaborate with the General Manager to develop and implement operational procedures and policies
•Provide support and guidance to hostel staff, fostering a positive work environment.
•Handle cash transactions with accuracy and maintain detailed records of financial transactions
•Assist with administrative tasks such as preparing reports and maintaining records.
 Qualifications:
•Previous experience in hospitality, preferably in a hostel or hotel environment ( full training provided)
•Excellent communication and customer service skills.
•Strong organisational and multitasking abilities to handle the dynamic nature of hostel operations.
•Proficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with reservation systems is a bonus.
•Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness and hygiene standards.
•Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as required.
•Be self motivated and able to complete work on their own initiative.
•Must be eligible to work in New Zealand by having the correct visa or being a citizen.
