Pizza Chef – Martinborough

We are seeking an experienced Pizza Chef to join our small, passionate kitchen team on a fixed-term, part-time basis. We’re a family-owned winery and eatery with a focus on great food, good wine, and a relaxed, welcoming vibe.

This role runs from late July through to the second week of November 2025 (exact dates TBC), with shifts between Thursday and Sunday. Our kitchen closes at 7pm on Friday and Saturday, so you can enjoy your evenings – with the occasional later finish during special events.

About the Role

You’ll be working alongside our experienced pizza chef, helping deliver consistently high-quality pizzas during busy service. From dough prep to oven management, this is a hands-on role that requires attention to detail, speed, and a love of good food.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Make and manage pizza dough from scratch
  • Hand stretch bases and assemble pizzas to order
  • Operate the pizza oven with confidence and consistency
  • Maintain high standards of presentation and quality
  • Work efficiently under pressure in a busy kitchen
  • Contribute to a clean, safe, and well-organised kitchen
  • Collaborate closely with our small, supportive team

About You We’re looking for someone with proven pizza experience – confident in dough prep, oven management, and working in a fast-paced environment.

You’ll also:

  • Be calm, organised, and quick on the tools
  • Have strong attention to detail and presentation
  • Enjoy working in a team where everyone pitches in
  • Hold New Zealand residency or a valid NZ work visa

What We Offer

  • Competitive hourly rate (based on experience)
  • Consistent hours with no late-night shifts (kitchen closes at 7pm on Friday and Saturday)
  • Staff meals and generous discounts
  • A supportive, friendly team in a scenic vineyard setting
