Lodge Hosts – Hollyford Valley, Fiordland

Full-time, Fixed Term – Mid October 2024 to April 2025/May 2025

Whakatipu Waitai (Hollyford Valley)

Are you keen to work with your partner, best friend or maybe you have a relation that you’d like to share an awesome adventure and experience with over the summer? Is one of you a whiz in the kitchen and/or a “Jack of all trades”? Ideally, we are looking for couples/pairs to host our guests at our newly renovated lodges in the Hollyford Valley, on a rotating roster.

This is certainly not your usual walk in the park – it takes our manuhiri (guests) down the Hollyford Valley following the path of Māori and early Europeans alike, by foot, jet boat and helicopter. This position will see you hosting our manuhiri at our two remote lodges.

The Lodge Host roles are for two people who work as a hosting pair to manage the daily operations of our lodges, providing our guests the highest level of hospitality and catering.

The role covers all aspects of lodge hospitality (including hosting, catering, bar, housekeeping, maintenance and managing supplies) to ensure a memorable experience for our guests as we seek to share the beauty and manaakitaka (hospitality) that represents the best of Aotearoa (New Zealand).

Whether you’re a kiwi or coming in from overseas on a working holiday visa, we have an opportunity for you to stay and work amongst the stunning scenery of New Zealand’s Fiordland National Park for our summer season 2024/2025.

You’ll get to meet people from all over Aotearoa and the world and have an experience you will never forget. Combine this with a dedicated and supportive team environment, a hike through pristine NZ forest or a breath-taking scenic helicopter flight into Milford Sound as your commute to work. You will get to enjoy a world-renowned remote backyard to explore when you are not working, as well as a competitive remuneration package – essentially, you’ll be applying for your dream job!

About you:

People centric with a passion to impress our manuhiri with your exceptional hosting and customer service skills.
Experience in food preparation, plating, and service for groups of up to 20.
Strong self-management and time management skills
Sense of lodge pride when making beds, cleaning the bathrooms, lounge, kitchen & setting dining tables.
Available to work from mid-October 2024 through to April 2025/May 2025

Our successful applicants will have an understanding, or eagerness to learn and engage with our Te Rūnanga Group values and te reo Māori.
