Lodge Host – Te Anau

Our business is a luxury lodge located on a working farm overlooking Lake Manapouri and the Fiordland National Park.

The Lodge accommodates up to twelve guests and provides an all-inclusive, hosted service to our high-end clientele, including hosted drinks and hosted meal service, creating personalised itineraries, and on-farm activities.

The Lodge is currently recruiting for four Lodge Host roles with a start date of 1 September 2025.

The Lodge Host roles are available either as a fixed term contract to May/June, or as a permanent role.

We provide our staff roster several months in advance, to ensure staff are able to plan their lives. We provide regular weekend days off. We also provide for a three-day break once a month, Christmas and New Years off.

We have a three-bedroom house located five-minutes’ drive from the Lodge for staff to rent at a reduced rate if desired. It is fully furnished and includes a brand-new kitchen and bathroom, two fireplaces and a heat pump.

All applicants must be able to drive themselves to and from work, be fluent in English, and have the right to work in New Zealand.

Evening Lodge Hosts (1.00pm – 9.00pm) AND (2.30pm – 10.30pm) 

The role is focused on high-end guest hosting, and general housekeeping duties. Primarily:

  • Welcoming guests to the Lodge and showing them around the property.
  • Hosting cocktail hour and canapes (including chatting with guests, providing itinerary information for activities in Fiordland, serving drinks and clearing plates).
  • Hosting dinner service.
  • Setting up the Dining Room for dinner service, clearing the Dining Room following dinner service and setting up for breakfast service.
  • Assisting the Chef with washing dishes in the kitchen.
  • Providing turndown service in our four guest suites.
  • Preparing continental breakfast items (chia cups, muffins, biscuits etc).
  • Laundry (both guest laundry and lodge sheets and towels etc).
  • Outdoor property tasks – maintaining spa pool, gardening duties, sweeping exterior courtyards, cleaning windows.
  • Stocktake duties.

The ideal candidate would have cocktail experience, experience working in a restaurant, gardening/maintenance experience. Must be outgoing, confident talking with people of varying ages and backgrounds, and be intuitive to guest needs.

Morning Lodge Hosts (6.30am – 1.30pm) AND (Split shift role 9.00am – 1.00pm / 5.00pm – 9.00pm)

These roles are focused on light hosting duties, some reception duties, barista work, and housekeeping. Primarily:

  • Setting up the Dining Room for breakfast service.
  • Welcoming guests into breakfast and preparing beverages.
  • Taking breakfast orders and assisting the Breakfast Chef with meal preparation and plating.
  • Chatting with guests over breakfast to ensure they have everything they need for their day, including preparing picnic lunches if requested.
  • Packing down breakfast service in the Dining Room.
  • Checking guests out of the property (presenting the bill and taking payment).
  • Housekeeping – servicing and turning-over our six guest suites.
  • Laundry Service (both guest laundry and lodge sheets and towels etc).

The ideal candidate would be barista trained, have housekeeping experience (yachting experience ideal), and have a very keen eye for detail.
