The opportunity to come and work with some amazing horses, surrounded by the beautiful matamata countryside! We are a thoroughbred (racehorse) stud farm that breeds, produces and sells thoroughbreds.
We have two roles available, with a start date of April. One is for a senior stud groom the right candidate is someone with some experience with horses who has cut their teeth and ready for some more responsibility. The other is for a Junior stud groom starting off in the industry keen to learn and experience life on a stud farm. This is for full time positions.
The experienced position Senior Stud Groom is for people who have some experience with horses, and possess the following skill set:
- A willingness to learn and become a leader within the team
- Excellent animal husbandry skills
- Confident catching, leading, rugging and general horse skills
- Experience working with both broodmares and youngstock
- Able to administer treatments and medications to horses
- Experience foaling is a bonus
- Fantastic attention to detail
- Passionate, enthusiastic, patient and motivated
- Ability to work well both in a team and independently
- Excellent communication skills
- Current drivers’ licence
- Clean criminal record
The entry level position Junior Stud Groom, no previous experience with horses is required, just a can-do attitude, with loads of enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
