Hiking Guide – Southland

Fixed Term – October 2025 – April 2026

Te Anau

Adventure Awaits – Will You Answer the Call?

Kia ora, outdoor lovers!

Imagine your “office” being the breathtaking landscapes of Te Rua o te Moko/Fiordland National Park—tramping through rainforests, jetboating down Whakatipu Ka Tuka/Hollyford River, soaking in birdsong in the podocarp forest, and finishing each day with a hot shower and hearty kai at our lodges. Sounds like a dream job, right? Well, it could be yours!

We’re on the lookout for passionate Kaiarahi (Hiking Guides) to lead manuhiri (guests) on an unforgettable journey through the Hollyford Valley, following in the footsteps of Maori and early explorers. No two days are ever the same—from sharing engaging korero (stories) about the land, to exploring pristine sand dunes, before topping it all off with a jaw-dropping helicopter ride into Piopiotahi/Milford Sound.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A warm and welcoming personality—manaakitanga is at the heart of what we do
  • A love for storytelling—you’ll bring history, ecology, and culture to life
  • Strong tramping and/or guiding experience in Aotearoa
  • Excellent physical fitness and a focus on safety
  • A team player who can adapt to the wild, ever-changing outdoors
  • An eagerness to learn te reo Maori and engage with Ngai Tahu values
  • Passenger endorsement license may be required

Whether you’re an experienced guide or just starting out, we have lead and co-guide roles available for the right people.

What’s In It for You?

  • Competitive pay and industry-leading conditions
  • All food, transport, and accommodation covered while guiding
  • In-depth area-specific training and an outdoor First Aid certification
  • A supportive, fun, and tight-knit team in one of the world’s most spectacular locations
