The successful candidates will contribute to the farm’s day-to-day operations, ensuring the health and productivity of dairy goats. Key Responsibilities:
- Goat Care: Daily feeding, watering, and monitoring the health and well-being of the goat herd to ensure optimal care and early identification of any health issues.
- Breeding and Kidding: Actively assist in the breeding process, managing kidding periods, and providing care for newborn kids, including feeding and monitoring.
- Milking Duties: Participate in milking routines with a focus on maintaining strict hygiene standards to ensure top-quality milk production.
- Farm Maintenance: General upkeep of farm infrastructure, including repairing fences, maintaining barns and equipment, and ensuring a safe working environment for both the animals and the team.
- Health Monitoring: Administering medication, vaccinations, and other necessary treatments as needed, with an eye for identifying early signs of illness or injury in goats.
- Record Keeping: Keeping detailed records of animal health, breeding schedules, milk production, and general farm activities.
About You:
- Knowledge: A willingness to learn and understand goat behaviour, health, and breeding processes.
- Physical Fitness: Farming is physically demanding, and you should be able to lift, carry, and perform other manual tasks with ease. Working outdoors in various weather conditions is required.
- Work Ethic: A self-starter who can work both independently and as part of a team. Attention to detail, reliability, and a passion for animal care are key to success in this role.
- Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to troubleshoot and handle the unexpected, whether it be a sick goat, broken equipment, or other on-farm challenges.
