Cherry Harvest – Thinning, Picking, Packhouse – Otago

We’re currently recruiting for energetic, hard-working individuals who are keen for a summer working outdoors in an idyllic Central Otago location. These roles are for approximately 30-50 hours, fruit/weather dependant, working over 6-7 days of the week.

Right now, we’re recruiting for stone fruit thinners from 11th November 2024 (approximately) for 2-3 weeks, before moving into our cherry harvest in early December. It’s preferred if you are available to continue on working for us through the harvest, either picking or in the packhouse. It’s anticipated that work will be available until mid-January 2025.

What Skills Are We Looking For?

Those that have:

  • Attention to detail
  • Are reliable and committed to turning up to work on time every day
  • Awareness of and commitment to health and safety processes
  • The ability to learn and develop as you go
  • Great communication skills, as we have a number of different nationalities on site
  • Drive to achieve great results
  • Must be physically fit and able to carry a ladder
  • Experience working on an orchard

Experience on a cherry orchard is preferred, but all training will be provided.

The wage rate for these positions is currently $23.15 per hour, with the ability to earn more through a bonus scheme.

We currently have ability to accommodate those travelling in a self-contained vans at our campsite. This includes a small kitchen and lounge area, along with bathroom facilities.

  7. Would you be prepared to work through until the end of the season in mid January if your application is successful?
  8. We are an organisation committed to the health and safety of all people on our work sites. Would you be willing to participate in any health and safety training if required?
  9. What are your accommodation needs? We can currently only accommodate people who have a self-contained van.

Job Requirements

Must not be colour blind
Must be over the age of 18
Willing and able to carry 10kg buckets
Legally able to work in NZ (proof of WHV required)
Experience preferred
Must be physically fit and able to carry a ladder
